This post became strangely meta, as it’s about generating infographics but the topic I chose to generate the infographics on ended up with semi useful information…. 2 posts for the price of 1!
I recently noticed there are a lot of dedicated AI infographic websites, presumably because up until recently most of the image generating LLMs have been really bad at generating text.
That is of course, until now.
I wanted to test a few out so I decided to ask them to present "How AI Automates a Blog Workflow” as an infographic.
ChatGPT4o
I asked GPT4o to write up the basic list of what is needed to automate a blog workflow, and off it went. “Now, make that an image”
It’s amazing to finally see that the text it can generate is basically perfect, but the infographic itself is a little drab. In true client fashion I asked for it to be made more “dynamic”, because what could be more subjective than that?
We got ourselves some nice bubbles this time around, if for some reason an additional title at the bottom of the graphic. “Remove that”
Of course directly adhering to a prompt without deciding to go off on it’s own course is not a trait AI is known for, so we ended up with a nice circle graphic this time, if a little bit cluttered. “Lets make it a bit less cluttered,” I said.
Just like that our colour scheme changed entirely, and we got a lot more graphics, but ultimately I’ve got to say I kind of like it.
Venngage
A tool that is only free to use once, but definitely has some outstanding features. Rather than relying on an AI to generate a whole image each time, with Venngage you can select individual sections of the image and change them as you want.
You can select new colourschemes, layouts, other features. Only downside is you cannot export your creation without paying to download after upgrading your account.
Not wanting to pay for another tool just to simply download an image, I decided to make my tweaks and then cunningly just take a screenshot of what I made, completely bypassing my need to pay more.
If you’re leaving the door open for the Snipping Tool, you can bet I’m going to use it. Here’s our tweaked output:
Venngage has a good selection of other templates, in a similar way to Canva, so definitely check it out, as it might have exactly what you need. Just remember to bring your trusty PrintScreen key with you.

Now these guys have their heads screwed on straight. Always use a watermark!
Same inputs as before, this time you can scroll through about 5-10 different variations of what you’re looking for. As the name suggested don’t expect much else beyond infographics out of this site.
Overall a decent generation, nice graphics, albeit strange sometimes. I don’t understand what lifting kettle bells has to do with Social Media Automation but I’m sure I’ll find a Linkedin Lunatic post that will explain it to me in no time!
Infografix
My final foray into AI infographic generation today was Infografix. A site so devoid of a UI/UX designers touch, I couldn’t bring myself to try out any more sites after it.
The upsides to this app are certainly centred around being able to use it on mobile devices. The downsides, are basically everything else.
You can quickly select between the type of template that you want, but unfortunately those templates are incredibly limited. I can’t think of anything that this app offers that makes it worth using over any of the other examples today.
Conclusions
Ultimately I personally prefer ChatGPTs output over any of the others. It’s free, and you can have as many shots at it as you want.
Venngage certainly has a lot of different templates that you can select from which makes it a solid choice if you want to spend some money.
As always this is just my opinion. What tools are you using for templates like this? Let me know in the comments!
