I know we usually focus on the financial side of AI on this blog, but I thought I’d share a random comedic anecdote that happened recently.
Reddit user Robot_Shakespeare decided to use AI to make a ‘For Kids’ version of the story of Alien (1979). If you don’t know the story of Alien, I mean, who the hell are you?
If you seriously somehow don’t know it, Alien (1979) is an epic piece of cinema history that depicts a giant Xenomorph basically wiping out a crew of a small human ship.
Anyway… I showed it to my 4 year old son.
So; Robot_Shakespeare made a very convincing kids version of the 18+ horror story. Me; being a very responsible and mature adult decided i’d take my 4 year old through it.
The full link with all the images still exists here. So do take a look, but I’ll take you through each image and what was said by my 4 year old, because trust me it’ll be funnier.
After going through hypersleep the crew all awakes as we’re aware. Or as my son said “Where did the cat sleep?”. Now I really wanted to come up with a witty answer, but we saw at the end of Aliens the cat sleeps in the same cryopod, so I’ll be damned if my son didn’t say “Was he in a sleep pod with another person?”
“Yes son, yes.”
Now after a few more pages the classic John Hurt scene came up. IYKYK (or for us adults, if you know, you know.) In this rendition the alien slowly crawls out of his shirt though, which to be fair is much preferable to the full on chest burst we all got to see on screen.
“Oh look Daddy, the Alien is very small and cutel” completely changing my view of a movie that terrified me as a kid.
”Ha, he ate him!” as we kept scrolling through the book honestly the reactions got funnier and funnier.
Now what I will say, skipping forward several more pages is that if you are showing this to your kid it’s best to explain that you shouldn’t share it because when my son explained to my wife/his mother that he had been taken through the entire story of ‘Alien’ and his favourite part was when the Alien got blown out into space.
Needless to say my wife did not have a positive reaction!
Closing out that story, I just want to let you know I currently have about 5 AI projects on the go, so there’s lots of posts from me, but also guest posts coming up. I’m aiming to keep as many posts going as possible. Any support you can offer is great, but conisder subscribing totally for free!
